Emergence of padel in Nigeria and the Lagos hub

Nigeria has no FIP-affiliated national padel federation and has not hosted FIP-sanctioned events. The sport's commercial growth is concentrated in Lagos, where The Padel House at 41 Ribadu Road in Ikoyi describes itself as Lagos's first dedicated padel space and marks its first full year of operation in 2025. Lagos's largest single venue is Magic Padel at Federal Palace Hotel on Ahmadu Bello Way in Victoria Island, with 6 courts developed in partnership with Guinness Nigeria. PadelX Ikoyi on Cooper Road has 4 courts with a clubhouse and bar.

Expansion to Abuja and other states

PadelOn at River Plate Park in Wuse 2, Abuja, is self-described as Abuja's first padel venue with 1 court. The Transcorp Hilton Abuja added padel courts in August 2026, reflecting corporate and hotel investment in the sport. iPadel Tennis Club in Osogbo, Osun State, commissioned in February 2024 as a 2-court venue, promotes itself as the first padel club in Osun State. The PadelBay chain has expanded across Ikeja, Owerri, Asaba and Aba, bringing padel beyond Lagos and Abuja.

Community and domestic competition

No national federation, formal competition structure, or FIP-ranked players exist in Nigeria. The padel community organises through individual club tournaments, social bookings and the Padel4Good charity initiative. Estimated national court count is 15 to 25 courts across 10 to 15 venues. The TrustPadel platform lists 5 verified venues and 10 courts, though rapid growth makes directory counts provisional. Court bookings at several Lagos venues are available through club apps and online booking platforms.
