Ministry-backed growth and first courts

Padel in Oman is governed by the Oman Padel Committee (OPC), which sits under the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth and became a FIP member in 2023. The first documented courts were announced in March 2021 when Oman Club in Al Khuwair, Muscat agreed to build the Shimas Padel Centre with 3 professional courts. The sport grew rapidly across the country: by August 2026, Oman recorded more than 100 courts, more than 10,000 registered players, and 17 identifiable venues in Muscat alone, with courts spreading into governorates from Musandam to Dhofar.

Women champions and the MB Padel Tour

Oman's women's national team has won every edition of the Arabian Gulf Padel Cup, defeating the UAE in the 2022 final, retaining the title in 2023, and defeating Kuwait in the December 2024 final. The MB Padel Tour, Oman's national circuit, ran in 2024 across 5 governorates with 350 players competing for a prize fund of RO 4,000. Both the men's and women's teams competed at the FIP World Padel Championships qualifiers in Kuwait in September 2024. No FIP professional circuit event has been hosted in Oman to date.

Top player and Academy expansion

Sarah Al Balushi, Oman's highest-ranked international player, achieved a career-best FIP ranking of 422, competing at FIP Bronze and FIP Silver events across the Gulf region. The World Padel Academy Oman, announced in February 2026, will bring five indoor FIP-standard courts, a high-performance gym and recovery facilities to the Ghala area of Muscat. The OPC launched the ABQ Padel Youth Centre in December 2025, targeting players from under-12 to under-18 categories in partnership with ABQ Education Group at Azzan Bin Qais International School.
