Nairobi as East Africa's padel hub

Nairobi is Kenya's capital and East Africa's most active padel city. The Kenya Padel Association (KPA), affiliated with the FIP, coordinates the sport nationally from Nairobi. The first padel courts in the city opened in 2019, and by October 2026 the city had more than 15 dedicated padel venues, primarily in the residential areas of Karen, Westlands, Lavington and Kileleshwa. The sport draws heavily from Nairobi's expatriate community alongside an increasingly large local player base.

Key venues and the Nairobi club landscape

Padel Kenya Club Karen in the Karen residential area is Nairobi's leading venue with 6 courts and KPA-certified coaching programmes. Nairobi Sports Club on the Ngong Road corridor has 4 courts, integrating padel alongside rugby, cricket and tennis. Westlands Padel Lounge in the Westlands commercial area has 3 courts in a gym-based format. Lavington Padel opened in 2024 as one of the city's newest dedicated padel facilities.

East Africa Padel Cup and international events

The East Africa Padel Cup was held in Nairobi in 2024 at Padel Kenya Club Karen, contested by 5 national teams from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia. A FIP Rise Kenya 2025 took place at Padel Kenya Club Karen with a prize pool of 7,500 euros.
