Federation, first courts and national rollout

The Bulgarian Tennis Federation (BTF) serves as Bulgaria's FIP-affiliated padel body, with padel sitting under the tennis umbrella. FIP membership was obtained in 2022, with Stefan Tzvetkov as president. Padel arrived in Sofia in October 2020 when Decathlon Vitosha installed 2 outdoor courts as a joint commercial and promotional initiative, making them the country's first dedicated padel courts. A second Decathlon venue at Poduyane followed shortly after. The BTF's focus on Sofia has since spread to at least 10 cities through the Bulgaria Padel League, which entered its 4th season in autumn 2026.

Key clubs and the Sofia scene

Sofia's premier venue is Padel Club Sofia at the Tsarsko Selo sports complex with 6 indoor courts in a premium format including a café and pro shop. Sport Edition in Sofia has 4 courts with a restaurant and parking. AYA Padel in Dianabad opened in 2024 with 2 Adidas panoramic courts in an open-air rooftop format. Outside Sofia, Smash Padel in Plovdiv has 3 courts, while Varna has at least 2 padel venues. The BTF-run domestic ranking uses Rankedin.

FIP events and international milestones

The FIP Bronze Sofia, held 15-19 October 2025 at Padel Club Sofia, was Bulgaria's first FIP-sanctioned international tournament, drawing 61 pairs with a prize pool of 7,000 euros. Bulgarian players competed in both the men's and women's draws, led by Vasko Mladenov, a former ATP professional who became Bulgaria's first international padel title winner in 2021 after recording the country's first-ever FIP team competition victory. The Bulgaria Padel League runs across 10 cities divided into West (7 cities) and East (3 cities) conferences.
