BGC origin and rapid institutionalisation

The Manila Padel Club in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, was built in 2021 and opened its 5-court facility to the public in late 2022, founded by Filipino entrepreneur Alenna Dawn Magpantay and Swedish partner Fredrik Lonnqvist, who had observed the sport's rapid European growth while stranded abroad in 2021. The Philippine Padel Association was established in 2020 under inaugural president Senator Pia Cayetano, joined the FIP in 2023, and received recognition from the Philippine Olympic Committee in January 2024. By mid-2025, the PPA directory listed 80 courts across 33 venues nationwide.

Southeast Asia's most active FIP circuit host

The FIP Rise Manila 2024 in November 2024 at the Manila Padel Club was the first FIP-sanctioned event in the Philippines, drawing 122 players from 29 countries with a prize fund of 12,500 euros. In 2025, three FIP events followed: the FIP Bronze Manila offering 7,000 euros, the first FIP junior circuit event in Southeast Asia, and the FIP Silver Reap Manila with a prize fund of 15,000 euros and 128 players from more than 20 countries.

National champions and island-wide spread

Jessica Marie Agra, the Philippines' leading player, achieved a career-best FIP ranking of 145, making her the highest-ranked Asian woman in the FIP rankings at that point. The Philippines won the Asia Pacific Padel Cup in 2025 and retained the title in 2026. Courts have spread beyond Metro Manila to Cebu, Davao, Siargao and El Nido, following the leisure and tourism circuit across the archipelago.
